Pre-school Gymnastics
The focus of our Preschool classes is to involve the child in a variety of movement experiences using various pieces of handheld equipment, big gym equipment, as well as music and games.
Our Preschoolers programme is divided into two stages:
- Parent & Child (18 months-3 1/2 yrs old) Here all children are at different stages of physical, social, emotional and mental development. Parents are encouraged to help their child get the most out of the session while the coaches are there to inform and guide both parent and child. The focus is on learning through play and exploration, with some structure (guidance), which provides the child with a range of movement experiences each week. If you feel your child is not ready to be in a group without you on the floor you are welcome to keep them in Parent and Child once they turn 3 1/2.
- Tiny Tumblers (3 1/2-5 yrs old) The focus is on balance, spatial and body awareness, hand-eye, body-eye coordination, grip strength and basic manipulative skills. They will be learning various gymnastic skills throughout the term through a programme designed to capture all the fundamental learning skills that gymnastics has to offer. These are: spring and landing, rotation, static and locomotion, swing and manipulative skills. Parents may have the first 2 weeks of term to help settle their child into class, but after that we ask that the parents are not on the gym floor with their child.
Preschool gymnastics is built on the belief that moving and learning together is fun.
